Achieving a flawless, long-lasting tan requires more than just applying self-tanner—preparation and maintenance are key. Follow these simple steps for a tan that lasts and stays even, glowing, and natural.
1. Exfoliate and Shave the Night Before
The key to a smooth and even tan starts with exfoliation. The night before tanning, use a good exfoliator like our Buff Me Sugar & Coffee Body Scrub. It removes dead skin cells, leaving your skin smooth and prepped for the tan. This step also prevents the tan from clinging to rough patches, ensuring an even finish.
2. Wait After Showering Before Tanning
On the day of tanning, avoid applying your tanner immediately after showering. The hot water opens up your pores, which can affect the evenness of your tan. Allow your skin to cool and dry completely before applying any product. We recommend the Nourish-ME Hand & Nail Cream.
3. Moisturize Dry Areas
Areas like your knees, elbows, wrists, and ankles are prone to absorbing more product due to their dryness. To prevent the tan from sticking to these areas, apply a light moisturizer to these spots before tanning. This ensures that the tan is more even and natural.
4. Apply Tan Evenly
For a flawless face tan, squirt a workable amount of our Tropical-Glow Face & Body Tan Elixir onto a face tan applicator (or your palms) and gently apply it across your face and neck. Make sure to blend well until the product is dry. Don’t rinse the areas you want to tan, except for the hands or palms where the product may have touched.
5. Maintain Your Tan
To keep your tan glowing, moisturize regularly using Raww Cosmetics Happy Place Body Oil. Hydration is key to preserving your tan and preventing it from fading too quickly. Reapply your tanner every 48 hours to maintain your desired color.
With these simple steps, your tan will last longer, stay even, and keep you glowing beautifully all season.
